Calling All Beach Bums
We’re always looking for unusual places to travel to and the powdery beaches and surf seducing islands of Montenegro are on our holiday radar for 2010.
At the southern edge of Montenegro, almost at the border of Albania, is where you’ll find the eight-mile-long Velika Plaza and the island of Ada Bojana, which is where the party’s at for the 2010 surfer set.
Velika Plaza, AKA the Long Beach has such fine sand it is said to have medicinal powers, and from this beach you can sail, surf, water ski, or stick to the sand for football, volleyball or a little R&R.
The triangular island of Ada Bojana was created by a river delta of Bojana River. And legend says it was formed by gathering river sand around a sunken ship, which is in fitting with the region’s pirate history. It’s the strong cross onshore winds during the summer afternoons which have established Ada Bojana as one of the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing locations on the Adriatic Coast.
And if you fancy sunning your buns sans Speedo’s, then this is definitely the place for you, as it’s officially nudist.
Let us know if you’ve been!
