YouTune
We all use YouTube to revisit our favourite songs and videos, but very few of us ever get to star in one…
Eric Whitacre has taken YouTube videos to a whole new level by creating the world’s first virtual choir.
Twelve countries are represented in the performance from places as far apart as Ireland and New Zealand. It took 243 tracks and 185 voices to create the final performance. Each individual performance was captured through YouTube and then put together around a whirling central video of the conductor.
The performance has been featured on CNN and has inspired comments such as the one from BretFelix who says that the video “...truly celebrates the miracle of humanity. A truly marvelous use of technology, unifying the diverse talents across the globe.”
You can also watch each individual singer’s performance on YouTube and try to figure out exactly how they all fit together to create the final product.
