Slow waiter? Perhaps he’s just running low on battery power…

When Lapassarad Thanaphant decided to open the Hajime restaurant in Thailand, she decided to forgo the expense of hiring wait-staff. Instead she spent about 30 million Thai baht (roughly £646 000) on samurai robots.

Now, before you picture some frightening mechanical maniacs from a low budget film, rather think R2D2 with big googly eyes and a silly hat. These friendly little critters will deliver your food, clear your plates and even do a little dance for you – most definitely earning their tip.

The restaurant in Bangkok serves Japanese-style food and has no human wait-staff. You would have to order your food on a touchscreen display unit which will send your robot into a frenzy of activity.

If you don’t believe us, watch the video below and make sure you pop in when you’re next in Thailand.
