PAC-MAN Forever!
It doesn’t matter if you are 14 or 41, we’ve all heard of PAC-MAN. And now Google have ensured that the next generation will also get their turn to waste serious amounts of time with that odd little yellow mouth.
Google has become infamous for its Doodles, when they change their logo to something topical. The very first Google Doodle was designed in 1999 by founders Larry and Sergey and placed a stick figure drawing of a man behind the second “O” in Google. This was to indicate that they were heading to the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert – a sort of “out of office” message.
Since then there have been over 700 Doodles worldwide, but few have lasted longer than one day. Until the arcade game PAC-MAN turned 30. To mark this anniversary on the 21st of May, the Google logo turned into a mini PAC-MAN game and you simply had to click “insert coin” to play.
The Doodle game was uber successful and many a person spent a significant portion of the day being chased around a rectangular screen by little heads with legs. But before you panic that you missed out on some time wasting fun, the PAC-MAN Doodle was so successful that Google have decided to keep it. Forever!
